The Company’s name was amended to: Diamond Fire and General Insurance Inc.

Our first office was located at Lot 44 B High Street, Kingston; we opened our doors to the public on December 1, 2000.
Major floods around Georgetown and on the East Coast of Demerara – DFGI stepped out in their long boots to assess the damages and all legitimate claims filed with us as a result of the flood were paid.
Company was initially incorporated under the name Diamond Marine and General Insurance Inc realising the vision of Dr. Yesu Persaud & Mr. Komal Samaroo.
The Company was licensed to conduct business in the classes Fire, Accident & Liability and Marine insurance under the Insurance Act 1998.

In the very first year of operation the Company paid its first Fire Claim.

The Company opened its first branch in New Amsterdam, Berbice with the view of extending our services to the East.
Opening of the Corriverton Office in Upper Corentyne, Berbice to further enhance our services in the East
Opening of the Bush Lot Office on the West Coast of Berbice as we saw the need to extend our services to that area.
Opening of the Essequibo Branch, Henrietta, Essequibo Coast with the aim to extending our services to the West.
We entered the extremely competitive Motor Insurance market. This was done to extend and enhance our services to existing policyholders and also to attract new clients.
Opening of our new building (Head Office) on Lamaha Street, Queenstown, Georgetown.
